A message from the founder

When you cannot speak, information can

The real story behind MYQER, in my own words.

Anita

Founder of MYQER, and Gia's mum

I did not set out to build a company. I set out to protect my daughter.

My daughter Gia has severe allergies. One day, a pancake led to a frightening allergic reaction. In that moment, the world became very small. A kitchen, a scared child, and a rush of fear. What stayed with me afterwards was not only the fear. It was the realisation of how much depends on the people nearby knowing what to do, and how little they have to go on if the right information is not there.

The information existed. Her allergies, her medication, who to call. It simply was not there in the moment it was needed.

Emergencies do not wait for the right information to arrive. So I decided to make it arrive first.

I spent years in NHS urgent and emergency care, in business support. I had seen, up close, what happens when the right information reaches the right person in time, and what happens when it does not. I went looking for something that would help. Apps that wanted a subscription. Bracelets that did not fit a small child. Systems that asked a frightened bystander to log in before they could help. Every option put a barrier between a willing helper and the information that mattered.

So one night, with Gia asleep, I drew a sketch on my iPad. Two QR codes. One that works online, one that works offline. Scan, see what matters, act. Designed for the hardest few minutes of someone's life, by a mother who had lived inside those minutes.

That sketch became MYQER.

The first person to help is rarely a professional

In a real emergency, the first person to help is usually not a paramedic. It is a passer by, a parent, a teacher, a neighbour, a stranger with a phone and shaking hands. They do not have training. But with the right information in front of them, they have the confidence to help, and that confidence is everything.

MYQER puts that information into their hands. A single scan turns a phone into a bridge between worry and action. It works across languages, so a helper does not need to speak yours to understand what you need. It works online and offline, because emergencies do not wait for a good signal.

Simple on purpose

MYQER is not a medical device and it does not replace professionals or emergency services. It is something simpler. A way to make the important things easy to find, so that no one has to guess. Free to create. Free to use. Free because the people who most need it, children, older adults, travellers, carers, are the people least able to pay for it.

It is for children and adults, travellers and elders, people with conditions and people without. Because being unable to speak for yourself can happen to anyone, and the wish to be helped is something we all share.

It does not expose you. But it does not leave you unknown either.

Gia is the reason MYQER exists. She is also the reason every decision still gets made the same way, carefully, honestly, and always with her in mind. She is too young to read this yet. One day she will. I hope she understands that she was never just the reason it started. She is the reason it stays true.

With love and determination,

Anita, founder of MYQER and Gia's mum
